That’s Shenzhen takes a look at the best gigs of the week.
Fri, Mar 22: RoseDoggy @ Hou Live
An ambitious rap group from Shanghai, RoseDoggy attempt to combine such diverse genres of hip hop as trap and boom bap. They lean more towards the trap side of things, with some interesting production and beats in evidence on songs like ‘SuperRoseDoggy’.
Sat, Mar 23: Kode9 & Kabuki @ Oil
Building on a spate of fantastic bass performances in the underground electronic venue, Oil bring Scottish dubstep maestro Kode9, as well as jungle and UK bass artist Kabuki to Shenzhen this weekend. These two are considered to have helped forge the way forward for their respective genres over the years, and will be joined by China-based artists 3asic, Daniel Power (of Unchained) and Kelvin T (of Absurd Trax). Don't miss this one.
We’re giving away one pair of tickets to see Kode9 at Oil this Saturday. For a chance to win, share this post on your Moments with the caption 'That’s what I want – Kode9.' Send the screenshot to our official WeChat account (ThatsShenzhen), along with your name and phone number.
Sun, Mar 24: Gentle Grape @ B10
First of all, get a load of that name. Gentle Grapes, a young band with an average age somewhere in the region of 22 years old, offers fairly melodic pop punk music. Having taken the stage at a number of festivals throughout Greater China, these guys are battle-hardened, ensuring that this should be a pretty good performance.
