Their mission statement is to show the other side of Japanese cuteness and culture, while their music reflects an affection for early noughties punk bands like Le Tigre. Born in 1962 in Harbin, Heilongjiang province, Liu Jianhua graduated from Luxun Academy of Fine Arts in 1987 and now teaches at Academy of Art at Harbin University of Science and Technology. Liu frequently uses traditional Chinese elements, such as chubby ladies and auspicious clouds in his artwork, depicting the joyfulness of Chinese festivals and the concept of harmony.

Keeping with the theme of mall-based art, the new MixC in Nanshan presents an ArtXFashion-themed exhibition which will feature 19 artists from China, Japan, Australia, the US and more.
