Monster KaR are one of the most talented rock bands that Guangzhou has to offer right now. Powerful vocals and fantastic songwriting combine to give their live show an intimacy that is hard to find. You can catch them playing songs from their latest self-titled album on Christmas Day.

Thu, Dec 27: Quiz Night at Craft Head Tap House

Getting right back into the thick of things after their return with a new physical location in Xinzhou Village, Craft Head Tap House presents a new quiz night every Thursday at 8.30pm. With five rounds in total, they have three prizes to give away in each round to the top three teams. We recommend that you bring your Chinese friends along too, as there will be one round centered on China-related topics.

Daily, Until Dec 28: The Needle’s Heart

After graduating from China’s renowned Central Academy of Fine Arts, Tian Qi and Lin Rongsheng have gone on to take quite different paths, with Tian pursuing her artistic dream by making cloth dolls while Lin has been exploring the beauty of needlework. Through this exhibition, which is being held for the first time in South China, they aim to present their particular topics of interest in tangent.

An off-Broadway sensation that explores the complications of love, this musical revolves around Sara, who is involved in a dramatic love triangle and beset with desire, guilt and hard choices. Whether you are in love or not, married or not, this show should guarantee you an entertaining experience. As one line in the show goes, “that’s entertainment—until it happens to you.”

Sun, Dec 30: Ghetto

Adapted from the play of the same name by Joshua Sobel, Ghetto is the story of a Jewish theater group who performed in Nazi Germany during World War II. The story shows the intense heartbreak and passion for life of those who lived during the turbulent time period. Similar to Oscar-winning film Life is Beautiful by Roberto Benigni, this show highlights the human ability to maintain optimism in the face of great tragedy.

IC3PEAK is a Russian horror fairy tale created by Nastya Kreslina & Nick Kostylev – audiovisual artists based in Moscow, Russia. They play noisy dark pop, combining heavy sound and sharp high-pitched vocals.

Sun, Dec 30: Tomomi Nishimoto
Tomomi Nishimoto made her name after conducting many famous Japanese orchestras, while also working with a variety of international orchestras, including the State Symphony Orchestra of Russia and the American Symphony Orchestra. Recently, she has been experimenting with a new genre of music by taking in traditional aspects of the Japanese culture, Kabuki.

Tue-Sun, Until Mar 24: National Geographic: A New Age of Exploration

Bless Design Society for bringing one of the more exciting exhibitions that we have seen in a while to their base in Sea World Culture and Arts Center. Here, the famed global magazine, National Geographic, will present visitors with an exploration of their history, looking at such interesting things as the magazine’s first outdoor photograph, as well as their reporting of the grand human migration to Mecca, which occurs every year.
