The quiz will feature fresh and fun questions covering a variety of topics. Time to put your polymath hat on. Top prize on the evening is RMB1,000, with the second prize being a tower of Asahi beer.

Fri, Dec 21: Zhang Xian and BBC National Orchestra of Wales Concert

BBC National Orchestra of Wales, which has been at the heart of the cultural landscape of Wales for 90 years, will be joined by the celebrated Chinese conductor Zhang Xian, who has worked with orchestras around the world such as the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi and the Sioux City Symphony Orchestra.

Fri-Sat, Dec 21-22: Swan Lake

The highly celebrated Russian State Ballet will be on hand in Shenzhen to perform the classic Swan Lake this Friday and Saturday. With a goal to revive classic ballet works, Russian State Ballet is among the best dance groups in Russia and has performed in various parts of the world, including Germany, the US, Italy, Spain, China, amongst others.

Sat, Dec 22: Studio Ghibli Audiovisual Performance

A concert centered on Hayao Miyazaki’s epic cartoon works and Joe Hisaishi’s compositions will be held in Shenzhen this Saturday. Joe Hisaishi composed many amazing and memorable soundtracks for Miyazaki's Studio Ghibli films, such as 'Castle in the Sky' and 'The Path of the Wind.'

Sat, Dec 22: Elephant Gym

Long before math rock was fashionable, Taiwanese band Elephant Gym were planting the seeds for what has clearly been a musical shift towards that very technical genre in recent years. Their latest album Shuidi showed off the band’s range, as they allow bass guitars to jam at the forefront of their tunes, while also experimenting with bells and atmospherics.

Sat-Sun, Dec 22-23: Go! Design Community Festival
To be held in collaboration with the Shekou-based community organization, the Green Mango Community, as well as various design, innovation, education and cultural institutions, the two-day festival will feature five sections including the Haifeng Market, performances, moonlight screenings, workshops and sharing sessions.

This will be a great chance to enjoy the art of photography while also discovering the hidden beauty of our fair city.

With an aim to provoke thoughts on the connection between creation and reality, as well as to initiate discussions on the artistic boundaries for future animation, this event will showcase art works that blend culture, technology, art and life together in unique and harmonious ways.

Until Apr 15, 2019: Hello, My Name is Paul Smith

British designer Paul Smith is renowned for his creative spirit, which combines tradition and modernity. Famous for clothing and accessories collections, Paul Smith specializes in an inventive use of traditional craftsmanship and cutting-edge design to create beautifully made, desirable and modern pieces. The Design Museum London brings this touring exhibition to Shenzhen until April of next year.
