That's Shenzhen takes a look at the best gigs of the week.
Fri, Nov 30: Mary See The Future @ Hou Live
Taiwanese indie band Mary See the Future have a sterling reputation on the mainland after putting out great albums like My Fake True Love and Yes, I Am. Despite the fact that they haven’t released anything in a while, it is a joy to see them return to the China for what should be a great tour.
Fri Nov 30, 8.30pm; RMB100 presale, RMB120 at the door. Hou Live. See event listing. Tickets.
Fri, Nov 30: Royalston @ Oil Club
Dylan Martin, aka Royalston, is an Australian drum and bass DJ who has made a name for himself appearing on compilations by Hospital Records and Med School, as well as releasing a string of well-received albums. Said to combine an array of different genres into his work, such as techno, trance and classical music, Royalston's eclectic sound should be an intriguing prospect for bass fans.
Fri Nov 30, 10pm; RMB80 presale, RMB100 at the door. Oil Club. See event listing. Tickets.
Sat, Dec 1: RW Ben @ Hou Live
What is rope art? RW Ben brings his idiosyncratic artform to Hou Live this weekend, where he will use ropes to create very stark visual representations of space. He believes that the art of binding people can liberate them in a way, and it makes sense. While not necessarily a music event, this form of modern art is certainly worth a gander at one of Shenzhen's best new music venues.
Sat Dec 1, 8.30pm; RMB120 presale, RMB180 at the door. Hou Live. See event listing. Tickets.
Sun, Dec 2: Frande @ B10 Live
Just in time for winter, Taiwanese dream rock band Frande return to Guangzhou. Having garnered a reputation for atmospheric and illusory songwriting, Frande is one of Taiwan's premiere music acts and should not be missed.
Sun Dec 2, 8.30pm; RMB100 presale, RMB120 at the door. B10 Live. See event listing. Tickets.
