Cries of joy greeted the Brazilian football superstar after he touched down in Shenzhen's airport early yesterday morning, just ahead of the sold-out French Super Cup match (PSG vs. AC Monaco) taking place this weekend.
Excited fans thrust out phones to capture the moment, as well as football jerseys – Brazil, Barcelona and PSG – and even cleats for the forward to sign.
It was an enthusiastic turnout for a 5am flight, but one befitting the world's best-paid footballer. Despite disappointment at the World Cup last month, including criticism for on-field dramatics, Neymar's fan base in Chinese mainland appears to be going strong.
