On April 20, the Tian An Cyber Park Intellectual Property Development Fund was officially established. It is the first such fund to be prepared, initiated and operated by a privately owned enterprise, Tian An Cyber Park (Hong Kong) Group Limited.
Sunny Tao, Tian An Cyber Park President; Zheng Hongquan, Executive Vice President; He Wen, Vice President; and representatives of entrepreneurs in the park unveiled the fund together. At the conference, Tao represented Tian An Cyber Park in signing a contract with Zhonglun W&D Law Firm, P. C. Woo & Co., Beijing Golden-Bridge IP Agency Co., Ltd., China Innovation South IP Institute, Chofn Intellectual Property and other well-known institutions. All parties will work together to provide intellectual property services together.
Li Yuguang, of China's State Council, gave a keynote speech titled "Outlook on the State of Protecting Intellectual Property in China," digging deep into current trends in domestic intellectual property protection. Li also spoke highly of China's first privately owned IP development fund; he believes it will help foster development and innovation among Tian An Cyber Park's enterprises.
The fund will be used to increase capital for operating industrial IP rights, accelerating the integration of IP rights with finance, promoting the transfer and application of IP rights and facilitating scientific and technological innovation, structural adjustment and upgrade of key industries. By allying with over 10,000 enterprises in more than ten complexes across China and abroad, Tian An Cyber Park has adopted a market-based approach to establish the fund, helping enterprises become more competitive domestically and abroad.
Over 100 entrepreneurs from the Tian An Cyber Park delegation attended the event. Liu Zhiqiang, an entrepreneur in Dongguan Tian An Cyber Park involved in chip manufacturing, said that in 2017, the company encountered IP infringement cases for the first time. In response, Dongguan Tian An Cyber Park’s intellectual property service group conducted a detailed analysis of the company and connected them with professional lawyers.
Similar services are available at all Tian An Cyber Parks. The establishment of the fund, however, will allow Tian An to more systematically protect businesses.
In the future, Tian An Cyber Park will add an intellectual property service platform to each park's service center to promote coordination among complexes, improve the quality and efficiency of the company as a whole, spur industrial transformation and promote innovation-driven development.
The Tian An Cyber Park Intellectual Property Development Fund will help build up intellectual property protection for organizations in the fields of industry, academia, research, capital and government, helping domestic enterprises venture abroad while also introducing high-quality overseas technology to China. By promoting the exchange of Chinese and foreign technology, the company hopes to usher in a new era of integration and innovation among companies around the world.
