Heavy-hitting claims were made and heated words exchanged at the press conference for REBEL Fighting Championship 8: A Warrior’s Return, held on the afternoon of April 12 at the Conrad Guangzhou.

Three highly anticipated bouts will take place on May 26 at Guangzhou’s Tianhe Sports Center, pitting some of the best MMA fighters in China against their highly-skilled, international counterparts: Australia's Chris Morris and Brazil's Marcelo Tenorio, along with Konstantin Linnik of Ukraine, will face off against Wu Chengjie, Liu Wenbo and Wang Sai.

"The quality of the competition is the most important thing in our fights. We invite international MMA stars to compete with China's top MMA talents to ensure high standards. We are confident that the quality and intensity of the fights will be riveting for audiences in Guangdong," said Justin Leong, CEO of REBEL FC.

The highlight of the press conference was undoubtedly the fighters. Morris was his usual eccentric, charming self, at one point showing off his back tattoo.

Following the grand tradition of combatants spicing things up before a fight, Liu Wenbo also accused Tenorio of being a tad ‘sissy.’

In return, Tenorio, who has competed in Chinese MMA events many times, insinuated that middleweight champion Liu may not live up to his reputation in their upcoming 'light heavyweight' (93kg) bout. (China has yet to produce a light heavyweight champion.)

Will Liu make Tenorio eat his words? Will Morris live up to the quote by his idol? There's only one way to find out – come out on May 26!
