This photography show, organized by local group International Shenzhen Artist Forum, features work by artists from China and around the world. The opening event takes place 7-10pm this Friday, and the exhibition will remain on display in OCT-Loft until May 6.
Apr 13: Oak and Barley Whisky Night
Don't be scared of Friday the 13th this year: if you're a whisky lover in Shenzhen, it's your lucky day. Oak and Barley hosts a night for whisky lovers with the entire bar fixed at RMB50 for a 50ml double. But you get more than that back in the gift of a bottle of mystery malt to take home (normally sold for RMB350/case of six).
Apr 13: Konekt Asia x S!LK Pres. Slackk
Whether or not you've heard of instrumental grime, London DJ and producer Slackk is worth a listen for those interested in thoughtful, experimental electronic music. He'll be backed up by Hong Kong's Kelvin T and Puzzy Stack, a 'representative' of Beijing's underground club scene.
Apr 13: Friday The 13th Black Suit Party
Put on your sleekest black suit for a chance at a prize, or just come ready to dance to the tunes of house band TAS this Friday night.
Apr 14: MimiRichi: Paper World
The clowns of MimiRichi have perfected the art of “plastic comedy,” molding their faces and bodies into a cutting, hilarious humor that appeals to young and old. After tours of the world and enough awards to fill a barrel, the troupe visits Shenzhen with a deceptively simple premise: a massive sheet of white paper. But as with all great forms of art, the incredible freedom of that blank page becomes the stuff of wonders. Take the whole family to enjoy the improvisation and comedy of this delightful trio.
Apr 14: Tarde Caliente – Zumba Class & Party
Reserve one of 15 spots for a class with one of Russia's Top 100 dancers. Or just arrive at 5pm for the open party, with drinks and more of those infectious Latin beats. This is the first event hosted by Longhua Boys, organizing get-togethers that don’t require folks up north to travel across the city for some fun. If you’re anywhere near Longhua New District, this is your best chance to enjoy some local hospitality.
Apr 14: Post-Spartan Race Party at Bionic Brew
The Spartan Race – a marathon that involves slogging through mud, climbing walls and carrying weights – will be held in Hong Kong this week for those brave enough to sign up. Afterwards, visit Bionic Brew in your race finisher shirt for a 20 percent discount on all beers and pizza.
Apr 14-15: BAT Electronic Music Festival
The first BAT Electronic Music Festival comes to northeast Shenzhen on April 14 and 15. The two-day music extravaganza brings two big stages, three themes, 600 stage lighting devices, 16 laser light fixtures, 15 pyrotechnic devices and 15 multi-colored paper cannons. The lineup includes many guys from the top of scene like Oliver Heldens, DVBBS, Borgeous, Bassjackers, Datsik and Tomorrowland DJs Yves V and KIIDA. The organizers promise it will be the finest electronic music festival of 2018.
Apr 15: Wayne's So Sad at B10 Live
Despite sometimes mournful lyrics, this Taiwanese six-member outfit blends folk with punk for powerful live performances. They'll be backed up by Atta Girls and Die!Chiwawadie!, both local bands playing indie pop and hardcore punk, respectively.
