Dec 31-Jan 6: Legally Blonde the Musical
Follow the singing, dancing exploits of Elle Woods, a sorority girl who enrolls at Harvard Law School to win back her ex-boyfriend Warner. The New York Times calls it a "high-energy, empty-calories, and expensive-looking hymn to the glories of girlishness." It’s not high drama, but it’s a whole lot of fun.

Dec 30-Jan 6: Women’s Tennis Association Shenzhen Open
The Women's Tennis Association tour kicks off in Shenzhen, bringing together professionals competing for prizes of up to USD750,000. Until Jan 4: "Why They're Classics" Exhibition
Like modern art? Hurry to catch this visiting exhibition from Shanghai's ShanghART Gallery, which ends Thursday. "Why They're Classics" has 40 representative pieces by over 20 contemporary Chinese artists. In traditional paintings and multimedia installments, the exhibition explores the significance of canonical artworks in an ever-changing China.

Jan 5: Detached Presents Jozef K at Oil Club
Jozef K has toured Beijing, NYC, Moscow and more. The tech-house phenomenon was recognized as 'best Ibiza newcomer' in 2014 and has gone to play for BBC Radio 1 and Pete Tong. Supporting acts at Oil Club include Daniel Power, DJ Gordon and Leevo. Buy presale tickets here.

Ongoing: Russian Oil Paintings in OCT-Loft
A total of 54 oil paintings by more than a dozen renowned professors from Repin Academy of Fine Arts are now on display at J Space, a factory-turned-art space in OCT-Loft. True to the classical realistic approach, most of their artworks bear distinctive characteristics of local culture and folklore, according to the curator.

For death-defying feats, comedic stunts and similar, check out The Great Circus of Europe, currently set up at Hong Kong's Central Harbourfront. Ongoing: Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism/Architecture 2017
With myriad installations, exhibits and workshops in Nantou Ancient City and across the city, this year's Biennale explores themes of "Global South," "Urban Village" and "Art, Making Cities." Smaller exhibits, like "Migrations: Home and Elsewhere—Rediscovering Hakka History and Chinese-Western Cultural Exchange" at the Longheu P+V Gallery, add a sentimental element through video interviews with families of some of Shenzhen's earliest expats. Follow WeChat ID 'UABB-SZ' and message 'ticket' or 't' to receive a free e-ticket to the main exhibit.

Ongoing: Dinolab Exhibition
DinoLab is not your traditional dinosaur exhibition. In addition to a variety of skeletons and fossil replicas, there are interactive spaces and facilities where children can experience digging and cleaning fossils and even hold and examine interactive dino babies. Plus there's a 360-degree corridor to let visitors get a full view of a 15-meter long animatronic T-Rex. Tickets available by WeChat only at ID 'cmhk-xl.' Find the exhibition on the third floor of the Shekou Cruise Center (蛇口邮轮中心), inside the new Shekou Ferry Terminal.
