Dec 18-31: Good Innovation / International Design Exhibition
Cultural outpost F518 Idea Land hosts a collection of innovative design, exploring three main themes: well-being, 'transformation' and intelligence. Products hail from designers in the US and Europe, and include "aesthetically pleasing prosthetics," smart textiles and an artificial womb(!).

Dec 20: Oolong Gas (Live Set from Kunming)
Since 2008, Fresh has been bringing a myriad of different sounds to Shenzhen (moombahton, anybody?). This Wednesday they deliver a liveset trio from Kunming, combining traditional Chinese sounds with modern electronic flavours, in Shenzhen's best new underground venue: Oil Club. Rival DJs Curtain and Quest provide support throughout the night, with Frontline & Fresh founders back on the decks at midnight.

Dec 23: Christmas Charity Bazaar
Get into the holiday spirit with food, drink, dance, arts and crafts and joyous Christmas carols. Enjoy treats like Indian samosas and cheesecakes, buy gifts like beauty products, candles, cookies, coffee beans and much more. Students of the Independent Preparatory Academy (IPA) will have their own booth to showcase their fund raising skills, with all funds supporting Captivating International. Dec 23: Christmas Music & Art Jam
Take to the stage or sit back and enjoy the musical talents of Shenzhen's up-and-coming musicians at this evening-long jam session. Musicians enjoy two free drinks and food discounts; music lovers get BOGO drink deals and raffle prizes all night long. Daunted by the distance? Don't be: Hard Rock offers a free roundtrip shuttle bus with pickups at Sea World Shekou (2.30pm) and Coco Park (3.30pm).

Dec 23: Santa Crawl
Grab your red Santa hat – or a full costume if you want to win the best-dressed prize – and join this holly jolly crawl through the back streets of Shuiwei. The party starts at Trafalgar then moves to Mambo, Dean's Bottle Shop and Evil Duck over the course of the tipsy night. Remember: you're representing Father Christmas out there, so be on your best behavior and look out for one another.

Dec 24: FC SES and MY STAR Christmas Party
Embrace the holiday spirit with your little ones at a fun-filled party benefitting China's poor people, elderly, orphaned and autistic citizens. Teaming up with A Heart for China and sponsored by Urban Family, FC SES and My Star host a party with games for the kids, raffle prizes, gift exchanges and more. Bring food and drink to donate, if you like, and take heart knowing that 100 percent of your RMB100 sign-up fee goes to the charity's great work.

Dec 24: Christmas Gingerbread House Making
Enjoy a tasty tradition as you build your own dream house out of candy and sweet gingerbread. All supplies will be provided and baked right there on site. Guests will learn the background of this tradition from a professional English teacher, sing Christmas carols and enjoy the fruits of their labor when it's all over. Note: space is limited to 10 families, so sign up ASAP.
