Frequent travelers to Hong Kong will be happy to note that the train journey from Guangzhou to the ‘Fragrant Harbor’ will soon be reduced from slightly over two hours to a mere 48 minutes.
The new high-speed rail will connect Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong and is expected to begin operation in 2018.
According to GDToday, the nine trains ordered by Hong Kong’s MTR company have touched wheels to track and are currently in a “testing phase.”
Four of the bullet trains have been opened for public inspection. A report by GDToday states that each train is comprised of eight carriages, with the first and last being reserved for first-class passengers and the rest second-class.
