Ye Yuanjie's family was overjoyed yesterday when, after two consecutive days of no contact, they finally received a call from the 24-year-old. Ye, who works in Shenzhen, has been traveling in Xinjiang since September 10, but dropped out of touch with family members after the 16th.

It turned out that he'd been trapped in a desert in Xinjiang for two days but managed to rescue himself, his sister told reporters at Southern Metropolis Daily. Ye is currently feeling 'very weak,' and is being treated at a Xinjiang hospital.
