It's a tale of embezzled bus money, a nameless entertainment group and an unsatisfied audience of 30,000, according to the Southern Metropolis Daily.
The newspaper reported that Shenzhen Universiade Center was hosting an audience of 30,000 for a concert on the evening of July 30. Expecting the advertised 7.30pm start time, the audience became agitated when the organizer instead first played 30 minutes of advertisements.
“Security officers spared no effort managing the scene and luckily nothing of grave consequence happened,” the article’s newspeak reads.
Meanwhile, the entertainment group – which the newspaper identified only as ‘XX King Love Group Star’ – found themselves unable to arrive on time as the money set aside for transport had reportedly been embezzled by their manager.
The manager and the organizer were put under five days of administrative detention for hosting an event that didn’t match officially approved start and finish times.
An application filed July 21 set a start time of 7.30pm.
Our fingers are crossed, in light of this recent live music mishap, that everything will go smoothly at next weekend’s Liam Gallagher performance at Shenzhen Bay Sports Center.
