French artist Ceet Fouad got his start on the street. To be specific, as a youth he painted graffiti over 'any and all inanimate surfaces' in his hometown.
Since then Fouad has both matured and branched out. He's produced work for an impressive list of companies that includes both Adidas and Prada, and has also been featured in galleries around the world.
Fouad's mix of influences — both high and low art — is evident in his latest show, 'Los Chicanos Revolution' (May 13-June 13), hosted at Shenzhen's Jardin Orange art residency project, which Fouad also manages.
The exhibition is based around Fouad's cartoon-like 'los chicanos' characters (featured on the cover of our January magazine). The colorful clusters of chickens can be taken as a metaphor for the frenetic pace of life in the modern world; of course, they also happen to be the Chinese zodiac animals of the year.
However you interpret them, Fouad's newest works are undeniably fun, not to mention great for selfies. See some shots from the opening night of 'Los Chicanos Revolution' below.
