A rather odd party poster is making the WeChat rounds in Shenzhen.
Fubar's ‘Not Opening Party,’ it reads.
Fubar General Manager Aaron Cannon laughs when asked about it.
"The joke in Shekou and Shenzhen has been: ‘you guys are never going to open!'" he says. Cannon admits the 15-month wait time has been a while, but says a lot is going into Shenzhen’s latest craft brew bar.
“This is a functioning brewery, full restaurant and bar. This is three businesses in one.”
Finally ready to open doors at 6pm Friday to the thirsty masses, Fubar is going big with a ‘not opening party’ deal that is, frankly, quite impressive.
For RMB100 you get a six-glass beer sampler, followed by one pint of your choice, along with two raffle tickets that give you a chance at a RMB1,000 top prize (in Fubar credit). The 100 kuai deal also includes a ‘Fubar Friends’ card, meaning three months of 10 percent off food and drink, which includes imported liquors.
During the party, screens throughout Fubar will play sports as DJ Pax lays down the beats. A “mystery band” is also scheduled to perform.
The menu is still being planned, according to Cannon, who says partygoers can look forward to Tex-Mex style eats, plus pizza and barbecue.
Fans of war films will know FUBAR stands for ‘F*cked Up Beyond All Recognition.’ What’s the deal there?
“The idea is that the beer and environment will make you go, woah! I can’t believe it!” Cannon says.
We can't wait to see the bar behind the name (and poster).
