A trip to hospitable Huizhou will be a simple metro ride away if all goes to the plan for the Huizhou Development and Reform Bureau, according to Shenzhen Daily.

Not one, not two, but five metro lines will link Shenzhen to its northern neighbor.

Links will include extensions of future Shenzhen lines 14, 16, 21, 8 and 19, according to the plan.

Line 14 would extend to the Huizhou South Railway Station and connect to Huizhou's not-yet-constructed Line 1.

The Huizhou bureau is waiting on approval from the State Council to begin work on the new Shenzhen-Huizhou connections.

This comes as Shenzhen works to build the world's largest metro system by 2030.

Shenzhen's planned metro system would span 1,142 kilometers with 32 lines, eclipsing systems in modern day New York City and Shanghai.
