Where to Take Spring Flower Selfies in Shenzhen

When you live in the PRD, it's hard to pinpoint that exact moment when you know that spring has arrived.

Is it when you spot the first spot of mold creeping up the wall of your apartment (if this sounds like you, see our mold-fighting guide here)? Does the day you can venture out in a thin sweater instead of a light jacket mark the beginning of the season?

When summer lasts almost nine months a year, people might start feeling nostalgic for the other three seasons. Some could even go to great lengths to recreate the feeling of a true spring.

At least, that's the best explanation we think of for the Shenzheners who traveled all the way to Exit C of Shenyun Metro Station, Line 7, to take pictures in a lone stand of flowering peach trees.

Don't get us wrong, we love a good selfie as much as the next WeChat addict. But there's something faintly ridiculous about the setting for the photos, which borders both a highway and a parking lot.

peach-blossom-grove-shenyun.jpgShenzhen News made a video about the peach tree grove, complete with a soothing instrumental soundtrack. In a sea of pink blossoms, you can make out the figures of couples and families pretending to be one with nature.

The setting may not have been as tranquil as they'd hoped. One shot in the video shows a blue truck that's in the process of watering the trees, and possibly splashing bystanders:

The peach blossoms are located in the northeastern section of the park, close to North entrances 2 and 3. See below for a picture of the location.
