A would-be thief is in hot water with the Shenzhen traffic police after being caught trucking a Mobike 650 kilometers across Guangdong Province, according to Tencent News.
The Mobike – recognizable by its telltale grey and orange – was spotted by other drivers during stop-and-go traffic on the way to Hunan and reported to authorities.

The driver initially denied he had taken the bike, but Mobike provided an image of the journey as recorded by the GPS tracker installed on the ride-share bicycle.
“Shameful!” Mobike reportedly declared via Weibo, while adding that according to pictures the bike’s built-in lock wasn't fastened, but the bike was not charging for a ride, suggesting the lock had been tampered with.
The driver denied involvement.
According to the article, each Mobike bicycle costs RMB2,000, but other sources list the manufacturing cost at RMB3,000.
The would-be thief may face up to six months detention and a fine if found guilty.
