In the wee hours of October 9, after a high-speed car chase in Shenzhen's Bao'an District that involved five police vehicles and a gun, officers caught two individuals carrying 2 kilograms of crystal meth.
Bao'an's Tangwei Police Station released a statement on the afternoon of the 9th explaining the details leading up to the drug bust. Apparently the police had previously gathered some leads on where the dealers were trading. Those, combined with reports from citizens, led them to an area that includes Songgang Jiedao, in Bao'an District, and Gongming Jiedao in Guangming New District.
On the night of October 8 police went to stake out the area. After witnessing a couple suspects conduct and finish up their 'transactions,' the officers approached the duo in an attempt to detain them.
The two dealers, however, had other ideas. They attempted to make a run for it by hopping in a car and frantically driving away. Luckily the officers were prepared, and soon enough five police cars were in pursuit of the dealers' red vehicle.
They finally caught up with the suspects at the intersection of Songbai Lu and Shajiang Lu in Bao'an. A civilian car just happened to be making a U turn in the intersection at the time, blocking off the dealers' path of escape.
Four police cars quickly surrounded the red getaway car, but the suspects refused to get out. Instead the driver attempted to back up, crashing into the police vehicle behind it.
An officer shot at a tire of the getaway car, trying to stop them. The bullet went through a car door instead, though, hitting the left calf of one of the suspects.
Another police officer took this distraction as a chance to open the door on the other side of the car and successfully apprehend the suspected dealers. After a search, police discovered 2 kilograms of what they believe to be crystal meth, neatly packaged in plastic baggies.
Having caught their guys, police are now further investigating the details of the incident.
