5 of Shenzhen's Most Mouthwatering Pizzas

Looking for nothing but the best (read: no Pizza Hut here), we went on a pie-eating pilgrimage that spanned three of Shenzhen’s mightiest districts. Our quest turned up gems in Nanshan, Futian and Luohu, which means that no matter where you are in the city proper, there’s no excuse to dine on subpar pizza.

Milano

Try the “air-dried beef pizza” (Chinese name), also known as the bresaola, on for size. Fragrant parmesan, bitter arugula and slightly salty beef are strong yet pair well. With a soft, thin crust, it’s a satisfying combination of both flavors and textures.

RMB130. See listing for Milano.

NYPD

The vegetables are fresh, the pepperoni crispy and the ham (more baloney, really) a pleasant, savory surprise nestled underneath the cheese. The crust, stretchy and soft, is a pleasure to finish off at the end of the slice.

RMB80. See listings for NYPD.

Oggi Trattoria

Introducing the lovely boscaiola pizza: "Mozzarella, cooked ham, mushrooms and cream.” It’s indulgent yet irresistible, a memorable combination atop a nicely browned, chewy crust. Simple, yet well done.

RMB128. See listing for Oggi Trattoria Pizzeria.

Pizza Express

RMB108. See listing for Pizza Express.

Trattoria Italiana Da Angelo

A bit messy, but perfect for sharing with friends on summer nights.

RMB120. See listing for Trattoria Italiana Da Angelo.
