May 31 - June 2: RISE Conference in Hong Kong
RISE is an international event that brings together startups and investors, some of them from well-known, established brands such as Alibaba, J.P. Morgan Chase and Tencent. The organizers advertise that there will be 720 startup-investor meetings over the course of the three-day conference; entrepreneurs, don’t miss out!

June 1: Triumph in the Skies Children’s Day
This Children’s Day, St. Regis Shenzhen and Hong Kong Airlines have partnered to host this special event just for kids (parents welcome too). After a satisfying buffet lunch, children can learn about and try acting out the roles of different airline staff and crew members, from pilots to engineers. There will also be a chance to win three round-trip tickets between Hong Kong and Gold Coast or Cairns, Australia.

June 1: Children’s Day Special at Open (Hilton)
In honor of Children's Day, kids (12 and under) eat free at the lunch and dinner buffets at Open, a casual dining establishment inside the Hilton Hotel in Nanshan. The restaurant features an excellent selection of Asian and Western cuisines. Each child must be accompanied by two paying adults.

June 4: The Magic Flute by The Classic Buskers and Neil Henry
Mozart fans and newcomers alike should enjoy this creative interpretation of the classic opera piece. To the tune of flutes, panpipes and accordion, magician Neil Henry will re-enact the adventures of bird-catcher Papageno using illusions and magic tricks the whole family can enjoy.

June 5: Book Exchange
The Book Exchange, located near Fumin Village, boasts the largest expat library in the city. Attendees are free to drop by and briefly browse the collection, or stay longer for some literary discussion. The event is entirely free to attend; readers, don’t miss out.
June 5, 3.30-6pm; free entry. Shuiwei Community Service Center.
June 5: ConnectShenzhen at Craft Head
This monthly networking event will be taking place at Futian’s very own Craft Head Taproom on June 5. ConnectShenzhen provides a space for people to connect both professionally and personally. There will be drink specials and limited free food provided at the venue.

June 5: Wouter Hamel’s China Tour
With a sound that blurs the line between pop and jazz, the artist Wouter Hamel has been making waves in his home country of the Netherlands and beyond since at least 2007. Hamel has toured in Japan and South Korea in the past and now it’s time for China, with Shenzhen marking his third and final stop – after Beijing and Shanghai. Buy your tickets on Douban in advance for a discount.
