Nanguan is one of the oldest musical styles that are still enjoyed in China today. The instruments of Nanguan were quite similar to those used in ancient Chinese music, most of which today are either no longer played or have been modified.

Wang Xinxin started learning nanguan at the age of four. Since then, she mastered various types of this Chinese ancient music and is particularly famous for her singing, thus becoming a rare well-round talent in the nanguan music circle. She founded the Xinxin Nanguan Ensemble, which is dedicated to promoting Chinese traditional music by upholding the principle of “the most ancient is also the most modern.” Besides, Wang is also frequently invited to perform and collaborate with traditional and contemporary musicians in the West.
