The ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra is a top orchestra of world renown; the orchestra defines itself in the Vienna orchestral tradition. Cornelius Meister took over as Principal Conductor and Artistic Director in September 2010. The Vienna RSO is known for its exceptional, bold programming. By combining nineteenth-century repertoire with contemporary pieces and rarely performed works of other time periods, our programming often places Romantic-era classics in unexpected contexts.

Cornelius Meister was appointed Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra (RSO) in 2010. Having been appointed by the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo, as Principal Guest Conductor starting this season, he will also begin his tenure as General Music Director at the Stuttgart State Opera and Stuttgart State Orchestra, effective 2018. In 2016, he received an International Opera Award for the best production of the season with the Vienna production of Peter Grimes.

Over the years, the young American pianist of Chinese descent has succeeded in establishing herself as a highly respected artist, leaving behind her role of the celebrated child prodigy who once gave a private concert for President Bill Clinton at the age of ten. Claire Huangci captivates audiences with her "radiant virtuosity, artistic sensitivity, keen interactive sense and subtle auditory dramaturgy" (Salzburger Nachrichten).
