SHING02

He was born in Tokyo and raised in Tanzania, England, Japan, then Californina. The innovative Bay Area hip-hop scene of the mid 90s shaped Shing02’s musical sensibilities.

For the past 22 years, he has recorded numerous albums in English and Japanese, and actively toured the world as an MC, producer, and activist.

Currently based in Hawaii, Shing02 performs with The Chee-Hoos, an eclectic session band that re-interprets hip-hop classics such as the Luv(sic) series that he recorded with late-producer Nujabes. 

THE CHEE-HOOS

During an astonishing career, Spin Master A-1 has influenced his audience with his technical skills and original sound.

He has been called a “turntable artist with amazing performance skills” and has been showcased alongside international artists. He created a unique atmosphere with his skills and energy.

He was designated the live DJ for Shing02 and contributed to the album Tribute to Nujabes plus various music mixes involving Shing02.

Nicholas Kaleikini has music running through his veins. A talented ukulele player, pianist and classically-trained saxophonist, Nicholas has excelled in adding his jazz-influenced style to today’s modern sounds.

He has been accompanying his grandfather, Danny Kaleikini, for quite some time. The duo has played for Mayor Kirk Caldwell, Tulsi Gabbard, actor Daniel Dae Kim, the Honolulu Country Club owner, Tomio Taki and chef Roy Yamaguchi, to name a few. 

Together they released the album Aloooha in 2016. In addition, Nicholas also teaches ukulele, piano and saxophone to students of all ages at the Kailua School of Music.

Hawaii native Alika Lyman is a musician and teacher with 15 years' experience, and proficient in many styles including Jazz, Latin, Classical, Pop/Rock, RnB, Soul, Funk and Blues.

Alika has had the honor of sharing the stage with Gene Bertoncini, Bobby Broom, Valery Ponomarev, Tommy James (Duke Ellington Orchestra), Bobby Watson, Delfeayo Marsalis, Rob Scheps, Eli-Mac (Camile Velasco), Shing02 (Nujabes), Michael Paulo, Rene Paulo, Kimo Cornwell, Gregg Karukas, Harold Chang, Ginai, Shoji Ledward, Gilbert Batangan, Paula Fuga, Gypsy 808, Hot Club of Hulaville, Izik, and the Afro Criollo Salsa band.

Alika was also Bassist for the Broadway production of The Who's Tommy at Manoa Valley Theater (2015 season).

In 2014 Alika paid tribute to his grand-uncle, vibraphonist Arthur Lyman, with Leis of Jazz vol. 2, which was nominated for best jazz album of 2014 at the Na Hoku Hanohano awards and is available on CD and vinyl LP through Dionysus Records.
