Jazz bar at OCT Loft, recently renovated and much bigger and improved. I love the outdoor seating on the terrace and the intimate seating indoors. The pictures and paraphernalia add to the jazz feel and make it a very cool spot.
Service is excellent here and its bilingual too. There are jazz performances every night at 9pm and 3pm (on weekends) follow the official wechat account for schedules
The food here was a great surprise. The salmon bruschetta was excellent and a generous salmon portion. The soft texture balanced the crunch. The burger was pretty good and at 80RMB good value for the location. Greek salad had a generous portion of feta cheese and olives, always a winner. Pizza, pasta, steak are also available.
There is an extensive whiskey selection here as well as a large cocktail menu. Cocktails are 108RMB which is standard SZ price. IPA was 60RMB (a tad high for Firestone) would be nice
if they sold a local ipa since there are so many (NBeer, ET, Crafthead
Bionic Beer is a long established and popular craft beer bar in the charming Nantou Ancient Town. After a few hours exploring the alleys and architecture, Bionic is a welcome respite.
The beer, as you would expect at Bionic, was excellent. The flight in particular is popular as people can sample a few different choices. . We stayed late and sampled lots of different beers, with the white rabbit stout and the East Gate IPA being the fan favourites. They have a 'peoples pint' for 30 RMB each week too
The food was solid. Came quickly and at good intervals. Chicken and waffles, burger, fries and cake. The beyond meat burger was a nice surprises too, being almost the same as a real meat patty. I thought the cake was good too, the sweetness a good accompaniment to the beer
The seating is bigger than it looks and can fit around 30 people and more if standing. The staff do a good job and the vibe is really nice here
Morse is a well established name and this is their new Futian location.
My immediate impression was this would be a great place to work during the weekdays. It's spacious, not busy, has outlets for plug/USB, and has music but not too loud.
Great selection of single origin pour overs here, as well as the standard coffee drinks and some funky options including passionfruit or kumquat cold brews.
They do a range of bagels and avocado toast type things. I particularly like the pesto chicken bagel. Usually starts 11.30am but they made me a bagel at 9am because I was hungry.
Soda the dog is the star attraction. If you don't see the real dog you can see decorations of him. He's a real KOL.
I'll be a frequent visitor here. However I heard that it gets insanely busy on weekends
