UPDATE: The "smoke" that many reported seeing this afternoon was simply the building testing its boiler system, sources have confirmed. The testing will continue for one week.
Apparent plumes of smoke have been spotted curling around the edifice of Shanghai Tower, the recently completed tallest building in China and the second-tallest in the world.
While no details as to the source of the smoke are currently available, a fire is suspected to have occured about two-thirds of the way up the 128-story skyscraper.
