Town Crier! is random snippets of Shanghai news that just may have an effect on your life...
Much loved British retailer Marks and Spencer has announced it will close five stores in Shanghai by August, reports The Guardian.
The brand entered Shanghai in 2008 and has 15 stores on the Mainland but sales haven't gone as planned. M&S say they remain commited to expanding in other Chinese cities. The brand has already lost its regional director to another retail brand and around 60 other jobs will be affected by the closures.
Thankfully for all you Anglophiles, the Nanjing Xi Lu store will remain open and they plan to renovate and modernise the branch this coming autumn.
