The Parrot is Closing, Making Way for New Nightclub Concept

After a four-year run, The Parrot is shuttering its doors for good at the end of this weekend. Unlike so many other beloved venues around Shanghai, this one is not due to COVID backlash, but instead because the Funka Group is refurbishing the space and teaming up with the people behind Alter. Soundsystem to bring the Shanghai nightlife scene a different nightclub with a brand spanking new concept. (Fingers crossed it involves some combination of swim-up bars, silent dance-offs, interactive walls, 5D ceilings and dog-friendly dance floors... a girl can dream). Construction is scheduled to start as soon as next week.

In the meantime, indulge in some hazy, sweaty, dance-filled Parrot nights nostalgia for one final weekend. It's free entrance on Friday night in honor of Free the Parrot, and RMB100 (which includes two drinks) on Saturday night for the ultimate closing party, The Last Dance, featuring music by Alter. Soundsystem from 10pm until the wee hours of the morning. Soak it all in for one final Parrot blowout.
