We're a bit late to this, but not too late!
There is still time to sign up for Golden Gloves' Open White Collar Boxing Championship Tournament – the first of it's kind in China. Here's how it works...
Boxers from any gym in Shanghai are welcome to take part in this three event elimination tournament. The events are spaced five weeks apart so that boxers have time to train and recover between bouts.
If boxers win the the first round they go into the semi-final. Lose in the first round, and they are put into a 'Contender' fight pool and they will have the chance to fight at the second event. If they win the second event, they will be in the final of the Contender fight pool at King of The Bund on May 9.
King of The Bund will be similar in format to black tie ballroom events, Brawl On The Bund. However, with the finals of the King of the Bund and Contender tournaments taking place, there will be two boxing rings in the ballroom and up to 20 fights on the night, with finalists duking it out to be the first King of The Bund in their weight category and receive their championship belts.
Boxers may train at and take part in the competition from any gym. All boxers need to register with Golden Gloves (see below) and have their information varified by their gym and coach. It is a white collar boxing tournament. Only white collar boxers are welcome to take part. Boxers with former professional or Olympic boxing experience are not eligible to take part.
