Oct 21: Carly Rae Jepsen

We really, really, really, really, really, really like Carly Rae Jepsen and we are delighted to announce that tickets to her shows in Shanghai are now on sale over on our thMart platform. The singer, who is best-known for tracks like ‘Call Me Maybe’ and ‘I Really Like You’, will be playing for two nights at Bandai Namco Shanghai Base on October 20 and 21. Earlier this year, the Canadian singer came back with her first album in four years. Critically acclaimed upon release, Dedicated features 13 tracks and was inspired by everything from ’70s disco to the calm Swedish countryside. With Grammy nominations, No. 1 hits and Zeitgeist-defining songs in the bag, we’re sure these tickets will fly off the shelves, so make sure you pick yours up fast!

Moulin Rouge. The roaring '20s of old Shanghai. Dream Of The Red Chamber, Cao Xueqin’s masterpiece, one of China's four great classical novels. These are the swirling and smoky realms that inspire the one you will step into at The Pearl. Twenty-four cast members, spectacular dance numbers, classic and contemporary musical hits, and close-up interactive theater are all on hand to tease your senses.

Oct 26: That's Shanghai's Halloween Party

Spooky music. Spine-chilling shows. Creepy drinks. Prizes for the best dressed. And even a haunted house. It’s that time of year for ghoulish get-ups and we couldn’t be more excited. Once again, That’s Shanghai is hosting a hell of a bash as we join forces with Cages and Budweiser on October 26. Pre-order tickets are just RMB100, which includes entry to all of the above freaky fun, and three drinks tickets. Budweiser will be decking the place out, including a full-on haunted house, while prizes to be awarded for the best dressed. Last year over 1,000 people rocked up in full costume, people were dancing on tables well into the small hours.

Saturday October 26, 8pm until hell freezes over at Cages. Pre-order tickets are RMB100, which includes three drinks tickets, and they can be purchased right hereTickets will be RMB200 at the door, so buy now to avoid disappointment.

Give yourself over to absolute pleasure this Halloween at The Rocky Horror Drag Show: an outrageously sinful, genderbent reinterpretation of the ultimate smutty cult classic. Join us as we follow the light over at the Frankenstein place, find out what’s on the slab down in the lab and whatever did happen to Fay Wray in the end. It’s not easy having a good time, but dammit Janet, we’re gonna try.

Join The Rooster for its Charity Halloween Pumpkin Carving Competition! How do you enter? All proceeds from this spooktastic event will go to benefit South Pond Kindergarten, a school for children of migrant workers (a partnership built through the Rotaract Club of Shanghai). Oct 26: We Lost the Sea

Australian instrumental post metal band We Lost the Sea arrive with new album Triumph & Disaster in tow. Described as a post apocalyptic tale of a mother and son’s last day on earth, the album is a love letter to the earth and a lamentation about the collapse of the environment. They take in an eight date tour of the country this month.

Oct 26: Yuyintang's 2019 Halloween Tribute Show

It's back again, boils and ghouls: The Halloween Tribute Show. This year they've got a stacked line-up of bands from four decades in styles ranging from metal to funk to indie to awesome! Local Shanghai rock musicians, including Nerve Passenger, Hitobashira, Hydraslug, Alpaca, Returns to Sender and more will be dressing up as and kicking out jams from Black Sabbath, The Cribs, Alice in Chains, David Bowie and Parliament/Funkadelic. The Mothership lands at Yuyintang Park for one night only, Saturday October 26. Don't miss this absurd concert! But wait, that's not all! At the Specters after-party a secret sixth tribute band will take the stage and perform live at 2am!

Oct 26-27: 2019 Urban Family Kids Halloween Weekend

On October 26-27, Urban Family will be spooking out Shanghai’s Archwalk with a fun-filled, family-friendly gathering. This year’s event will cater to more than 5,000 kids and parents and it’s shaping up to be a spectacular weekend. The 2019 Urban Family Kids Halloween Weekend will feature a range of special performances as well as tons of fun games for the little ones. Of course, there will be plenty of traditional All Hallows’ Eve activities, like pumpkin decorating and Halloween crafts. In the spirit of the holiday, there will also be a costume competition for kids to show off their spookiest, silliest and craziest costumes, which will be voted on by the audience, followed by a Halloween parade and prizes. This year’s Urban Family Kids Halloween Weekend will be jam-packed with activities, prizes, exciting games, delicious food and so much more.

Dancelife is a monthly, un-choreographed, one hour community disco set to a freshly curated playlist every time. They create a judgement-free, substance-free space for people to let loose and be themselves no dance experience required! We are a not-for-profit initiative and all proceeds from entry are donated to Lifeline, a free mental health services helpline based in Shanghai.
