We were pretty bummed to hear that the dreamy rooftop pop-up restaurant Botanik was ending its run earlier than planned. Yesterday, September 1 was the Elijah Holland-headed crew's last day, and we thought that was a wrap.
It turns out the Oysterlicious Group (that also owns The Plump Oyster, C Pearl, Osteria et al.) is giving the venue a second life as an events space called Plump Garden, and their first tenant is The Nest for a pop-up called PERCH.

We are pretty stoked to hear that the gorgeous edible rooftop garden is still available as a dining space, now with food created by chef Freddy Raoult. The cuisine will blend Nordic and Russian influences as they do at The Nest, with ingredients from the Plump Garden accenting the dishes. They also plan to utilize Chinese ingredients such as jak, juniper, betel, buffalo milk, Yunnan pigeon, marigold, geranium and more.

The drinks come from The Nest group's 'mixmaster' Michael Chen (as in 2018 Chivas Masters China Champion), and we expect him to have lots of fun pulling botanicals into his creations.
While we loved Botanik (as evidenced by this four-star review), we are eager to see what Raoult and Chen put together when working outdoors and outside of their comfort zones.

The pop-up starts on September 12 and goes throughout autumn until the weather gets too cold. They will be open Thursday to Saturday, and the format follows the Botanik model with ten courses for RMB688. Optional beverage pairings are RMB288, plus walk-ins can hit up the bar for cocktails, natural wines and a la carte dishes.
If you are an avid follower of food and drink gossip, you might remember that some of The Rooster team are involved in a new cocktail bar, also named Perch, that is scheduled to open near the new Logan's Punch some time this fall. Since Perch by The Nest is just a pop-up, the confusion shouldn't last too long.
