One of our favorite citywide institutions, ShanghaiPRIDE, returns for its 11th year, with parties, community talks, a film festival and art shows for folks to sink their teeth into. Plan on getting involved in the festivities? We have just the thing for you! A comprehensive guide to all and everything that you can catch around the city this Shanghai Pride week. 

The Parties

Ladies Party

The iconic Ladies Party will be back once more on June 13. Grab your boots and join in on the dancing, music, and risque entertainment. A party isn’t truly a party without a raffle, right? Yeah, we agree and so do the folks behind this party. Special drink offers will be prepared for all the ladies and the fellas dressed in drag. Unleash your baddest side and enjoy an evening full of fun.

Pink Party

RIINK will be holding ShanghaiPRIDE’s official party, so get ready for a wild night full of good vibes and energy! The party will include dazzling performances, exciting raffles, drinking, and of course, lots of pink.

The Film Festival

The Shanghai Pride Film Festival (ShPFF) may have already begun, but you have until Sunday to catch the festival. Once a simple screening, the 2019 edition highlights  60 of the most inspiring and well-made LGBTQ+ films of the year, shot by filmmakers from China and the rest of the world. This is a great way to support the LGBTQ+ community while checking out independent and up-and-coming filmmakers.

The Art Show

This year, the Polar Bear Gallery is holding the Pride Art exhibition from the June 8-June 16. The artwork for this year’s edition focuses on three components (self-awareness, relationships and community) in support of self-identity and diversity.

Pride Run

Get out in force this Saturday to support the folks at ShanghaiPRIDE and snag yourself some elusive weekend exercise on their Pride Run. Culminating in the Pink Brunch at Andaz Xintiandi, runners can choose to pay RMB150 to run, or add an extra RMB88 to brunch, while folks looking to brunch only will have to pay RMB288. With the option to run courses in lengths varying anywhere from 3 kilometers to 15 kilometers through various parts of the city, this one caters to all comers.

Andaz Pink Brunch

Head over to Andaz Xintiandi for a delicious brunch, with food options including Chinese and Western style bites. All who pay for a full price ticket for this delightful brunch will also get free entry to the Pink Party later in the evening. What a deal!

ShanghaiPRIDE has invited 13 speakers to this years edition of Pride Talk, where they will be trading stories and experiences of their lives as part of the LGBTQ+ community.

LGBTQ Groups Open Day

This open day has invited over 30 different LGBTQ organizations from many different regions to join the event and exchange platforms. The purpose of this event is to promote acceptance, tolerance, awareness, and social visibility of the community throughout China.
