Chinese actress Tang Wei lost 210,000 ($34,731) yuan on Saturday after being tricked over the phone to wire the money to an alleged fraudster.

Tang, who is shooting a movie in Shanghai, went to a bank in the Songjiang District on Saturday afternoon to carry out the transaction. At about 4pm local police received a report from the actress that she'd been scammed.

There is no information on what was said to the ‘Lust, Caution’ star to convince her to part ways with the cash.

A representative for Tang said the actress was fine. “She was not disturbed after it happened,” she said. “Everything is smooth with the shooting.”

If only the bank had locked Tang inside for her own good

In October, a Guangzhou based business tycoon was cheated out of 27 million yuan ($4.47 million) through telephone fraud. Police are still trying to identify who was behind the scam.
