May 23-27: Guest Bartender Rudy van der Brink

Dutch bartender Rudy van der Brink is stepping behind the counter at Flair Rooftop, an al-fresco restaurant featuring international tapas and impressive views of Pudong. For his five nights at Flair, Rudy will be showcasing four of his signature cocktails: Twisted Knee, Old Fashioned Twist, From Holland with Love and Smashing Pisco Sour. Brand Ambassador for Jack Daniel’s Holland, Rudy taught over 1,200 bartenders in 2018, so you can count on a quality night of craft cocktails.

May 24: Ditch The Milk: Beer and Cookie Pairing

Ditch the milk and eat your cookies with a nice cold glass of beer. Strictly Cookies and Stone Brewing Tap Room teamed up to create a four-course beer and cooking pairing, available all day Friday, May 24. The menu starts with Stone’s Arrogant Bastard Ale and Strictly Cookie’s brown sugar, a collaboration with Stone Brewing Tap Room and their cookie of the month. This beer and cookie combo is exactly what we didn’t know we needed, but we’re glad it’s finally here.

May 24-25: Guest Bartender Steven Beerens

If you missed Steven Beerens at UP on Thursday, he’ll be taking his talent to The ZUK Bar this Friday and Saturday. Steven has been a part of six different venue openings across Hong Kong and Australia, and we’re couldn’t be more excited by his bar[tender]hopping this weekend in Shanghai. Known for creating his own ingredients from scratch, Steve’s cocktails are sure to be a fresh take on your favorites.

May 24-26: FEAST Food Festival

Social Supply is pairing up with Drinks & Co. to put on the fifth edition of FEAST Food Festival, featuring 15 all-star chefs and chef duos. For its second year on HKRI Taikoo Hui’s rooftop, FEAST has packed its weekend-long schedule with chef battles, cocktail competitions and other fun, food-oriented festivities. May 25: Italian Wine Free Flow Night

UVA Wine Bar is bringing back Wine Free Flow Night (cue the choir of angels), and they’re starting with Italian pours. From 7pm to 10pm, enjoy a free flow of white, red or sparkling Italian wines for just RMB99. Whether you’re a Barbera babe or Montepulciano mister, there’s a glass waiting for you and ready for continuous refills.

May 25: Netzl Wine Festival at Zeitgeist

Famous vintner Franz Netzl is coming to Shanghai on Saturday, May 25, and Zeitgeist, the Austrian Association and Wine529 are organizing a Austrian Wine festival in his honor. Hosted at Zeitgeist, tickets to the event include free flow Grüner Veltliner and Zweigelt, in addition to a typical Austrian buffet and live accordion music. Franz Netzl’s wines will be available, too, sold at a discounted price for event attendees. And if you don’t know much about Austrian wine, well, it’s never too late!

May 25: The Grand Opening of Peking Inn Shanghai

Peking Inn Shanghai is finally ready to open its doors, and the first guests will enjoy 50%-off all food and drink from 9pm-11pm on Sat May 25. Their cocktail menu features both classics and house specials, and they’re not shying away from Chinese spirits. Their inaugural dishes include traditional Beijing cuisine like chunbing (spring pancakes) accompanied by an amalgam of stir-fry. As for the dress code? Lao Beijing.

May 25: New Zealand Craft Beer Fest

Will’s Gym has put together its first ever New Zealand Craft Beer Day, like an appetizer for Shanghai’s big Craft Beer Festival next weekend. They’ll be serving canapés and hiring live music for their rooftop terrace, but the real focus will be on Kiwi brews. Why not see stop by and see what’s going on? May 25-26: LatinLand Festival

Ready to get your fiesta on? LatinLand Festival will be heading to Shanghai for the first time ever on May 25-26. Expect thumping Latin beats, delectable food and drinks and all sorts of interesting vendors and activities to keep the whole family entertained. The two-day festival will take place at ASE Shopping Mall (just south of Xuhui District).

May 25-June 1: Guest Chef Jacob Brown

Jacob Brown’s cooking career started when he was just 18-years-old. Not long after, he began studying with some of Australia’s finest chefs. Now, he’s behind one of New Zealand’s top restaurants, The Larder, and he’s bringing his expertise to Mr. Willis for three nights of authentic New Zealand fare. Seats are limited for this one-off event, and you can book yours at (5404-0200).

May 25-27: Ifuku's Third Anniversary

Located in Xitiandi and Plaza 66, Ifuku and Ifuku Isaribi are known for their namesake’s impeccable ichiyaboshi, a Japanese technique for grilling cured fish, as well as robata-ya, a similar method for meat. If those words don’t mean much to you, it’s the the perfect time to get in the know. For Ifuku’s third birthday, both locations are offering a RMB100 discount on bills over RMB500. Note, this promotion is only applicable to dinner guests dining in.
