Ah yes, another Thursday night at Celia. Do you have some extra sick days you’ve been waiting to call in? A casual Friday at the office that’ll allow you rock up in sweatpants and sunglasses? Did your big boss just cancel the meeting you had scheduled so you’ve got a few extra days to work on that presentation you were *just* about finished with? Then head to Xinfu Lu for a late start and an evening with techno DJs Jeff Chong and Lina K. Don’t forget to pre-stock on electrolytes. And maybe bring your passport with you.

May 16, midnight; RMB50 (incl. one drink). Celia Club. See event listing.

May 17: Vitalic at Bar Rouge:

Shanghai welcomes French producer Vitalic for a live set that promises to shake up the dance floor and transform Bar Rouge into a space of untamed beats, body shaking tunes and powerful melodies. Make sure you catch Vitalic this weekend for vibey music with Shanghai’s engorgable skyline serving as the perfect backdrop to your evening.

JR Jarris is a rising producer, DJ and event curator based in San Diego, CA.Throughout his career, JR has collaborated with the likes of Masego, SOSUPERSAM and Mike Gao moving closer to jazz, hip hop and funk, rather than straight techno. Think horns. Should be a soulful night that’ll give you a thousand reasons to move your feet.

May 17, 9pm; RMB100 pre-sale, RMB120 door. 44KW. See event listing.

May 17: Hologram Dreams

“A voyage from funk into the future…” DJs Heatwolves and friends are back to take Dada’s dancefloor on a hyperloop journey from city pop, Italo disco and Chicago house into new wave, electro and cybernetic madness. Seminal classics, brand new sounds, unknown pleasures and rare anime visuals are to be expected and experienced.

May 17, 10pm; no cover. DadaSee event listing.

May 17: Nosedrip

Nosedrip might be the closest thing the scene has to a pure and faceless DJ. Through his record label STROOM and his monthly show on NTS Radio, Ziggy has developed cult status. His DJ sets often peruse the depths of non-commercial music from cosmic disco to synth pop, psych, proto trance and more. Brought to you by Beatween and China Social Club, and with Knopha also in attendance, this is likely to be a club night unlike anything you’re used to.

May 17, 11.05pm; RMB40 pre-sale, RMB80 door. Lofas. See event listing.

May 18: Terrace Opening Party

Known for propping up a form of glitchy ambient techno that can tend to closer resemble sound art, Byetone’s work with Rastor-Noton has promoted the minimalist tastes of underground electronic heads for the past 20 years. Joining him on the evening will be punky Dutch duo Volition Immanent and the lovably zany Beijing pair Zaliva-D.

May 18, 11pm; RMB150 presale, RMB180 door. Modern Sky Lab. See event listing. Tickets

May 18: RIINK Rollerversary

These two international DJs are hitting China for the first time at Found 158's 44KW (another one this weekend, in case you didn’t get enough the night before). The occasion? Their 10 year anniversary tour. Not too shabby. They’ll have support from local favorites like Edison Chen on an evening that’ll definitely take you... somewhere.
