If you've been paying attention to your WeChat moments the past couple weeks, you know cherry blossoms across the city have come into full bloom. And just like every year, Shanghairen are setting out to capture the beauty of spring. Unfortunately, the actions of some visitors are causing all sorts of damage... and controversy.
According to Xinmin, poorly behaved tourists are wreaking havoc on the blossoms, all in an effort to get the perfect shot of the blooms (at least they think so). The damage can be seen all over the city, from campuses to parks. The most common action is stepping on flowers, which leaves trampled flower buds scattered on bare soil.

To achieve the effect of cherry blossom 'rain,' overenthusiastic visitors choose to shake the trunks or even climb onto the trees and force the petals to fall by waving the branches.

If the previous pictures aren't depressing enough, there's more. The following photo captures eight women sitting on the branches of a cherry blossom tree. The photo quickly went viral and triggered a heated discussion.

"Don't these barbarians feel ashamed?" criticized one netizen on Weibo. "These dama should be fined or banned from the parks forever."
"Well, guess Darwin's theory is true," commented another. "Human beings are evolved from monkeys."
The mild spring weather is sure to attract more tourists to the parks in the coming weeks. Let's just hope visitors treat the trees and flowers with more respect.
