The weekend really starts on Thursday, so why not make your way over to The Camel to celebrate all the sports people in the ciy and the sports balls they play. They'll be giving out some prizes from F45 and REVO, giving you another reason to see who's doing what in the community and have a bite or a brew.
Feb 21, 7pm, no cover. Camel Sports Bar and Kitchen, see event listing.
Feb 21: ON
Flyer courtesy Dada
ON is back again at Dada for "Werkout" with new house, techno, break beat and acid. Lina K of Techno Train, 2SiDE, Liquid Mechanics, Man Alive and Rob Young will be behind the decks playing late, in standard Xingu fashion.
Feb 21, 9pm, no cover. Dada, see event listing.
Feb 21: Jess Connelly

This up-and-coming Australian-Filipina singer-songwriter is making waves in the RnB scene and will be performing live tonight at Le Baron. Another soulful set, they're getting a late start with Connelly going on at 1am. You can stick around, have some drinks upstairs at Beverly and stumble over from the Donghu corner beforehand if you want. It's your life, you do what you want. But best to arrive before 11pm if you're not making a table res.
Feb 21, 10pm, no cover. Le Baron, see event listing.
Feb 22: Craig David

Criag's TS5 Tour was born out of Miami, and needless to say this Grammy award winning musician can hold his own. The live DJ set has the potential to be a lot of fun, and isn't a bad way to kick off a bigger night.
Feb 22, 8pm, RMB480-880. Jing'an Sports Centre, see event listing, buy tickets.
Feb 22: Hologram Dreams

This is the last weekend to catch beepers, baggy pants, crop tops, floppy disks, Lexus sedans and another round of 90's R&B. Shanghai's house of funk and soul takes it back to back in the day, with an all-new concert featuring the music of Mary J Blige, Blackstreet, Janet, Destiny's Child, Mariah Carey, Faith Evans and lots more. Singer/producer Courtney Knott directs and stars in this show, joined by Shake's six-piece band. Dressing up in living colors highly encouraged. Sounds from new jack swing to hip hop soul and beyond. Live music from 10.30pm.

DJs Resinate (ha, resin), Rabbit, Benny Beatz and MC Jado will be playing late into the morning, per usual. Happy Saturday/Sunday, folks!

Feb 23: TGTR Shanghai pres. Jordan GCZ
Flyer courtesy of the promoter
One half of Juju & Jordash and the infamous Magic Mountain High - JORDAN GCZ is a formidable producer and DJ in his own right. He is a major proponent of live, often improvised techno. As JORDAN GCZ he's channeled those jammy impulses into jazzier house music, sounds that are more soulful than spacey - and who doesn't love a good dose of soul music?
Feb 23, 10pm, no cover. Electric Circus The Shanghai EDITION, see event listing.
Feb 26: Masego

Okay - so it may be a Tuesday, but this one is worth getting out of the house for. With vocals, cello, drums, trumpet, guitar, piano and saxophone under his belt, you could say this 22-year-old musician from Kingston, Jamaica is more than blessed. And hey, that would be fully appropriate considering that’s what his name literally translates to in Tswana. Mixing trap, house and jazz, this show at Arkham sets itself apart from the usual scene and will help you ride the wave of your post-holiday reset.
Feb 26, RMB120 pre-sale, RMB180 door. Arkham, see event listing, buy tickets.
