Shanghai sports friends, here we go again. The Camel and That’s Shanghai 9th Annual Sports Awards will take place on February 21. Once a year, we gather to recognize those who have truly made their mark on the city’s amateur sports scene: from the home-run hitters and KO punchers, to those who lift up their mates when all seems lost. They’re our friends, our family and, occasionally, our blood-thirsty rivals.

There are 16 awards across six categories in the general selection, plus three Under 18s categories with 12 awards to be won, with big prizes from F45 and REVO up for grabs. There will also be a raffle fundraiser on the night, with all money raised from that going to the Baobei Foundation.

And now, without further ado, here are the nominations for Team of the Year (U18):

WISS -  Tigers High School Girls Basketball Team

This year the Lady Tigers were undefeated in exhibition and league play, going 14 and 0, which ranked them 1st place in the SISAC D1 Girls Championships. During the course of their 14 and 0 season our Lady Tigers outscored their opponents, on average, by more that 15 points. Our Ladies wrapped-up their season with a Silver Medal finish at the SISAC Championships.  The second best Girls High School Basketball Team in the city. The best any Western International School of Shanghai Basketball Team has ever placed...WISStory was made!

Active Kidz - AKSIL U12 Puxi Panthers

The AKSIL Puxi Panthers are Active Kidz Shanghai’s competitive U12 team. The AKSIL U12 Puxi Panthers are lead by Head Coach Mandela Ngueguim, and have finished at the top of local leagues and Asia’s most competitive youth soccer tournaments in the 2018 season. The team consists of players from over eight nationalities and five international schools, with volunteer mom Eva as the team’s manager. This year they were Division A Champs in term 1 and 2, made the Cup Quarterfinal in Singapore, and were Champs at the CUKI Thailand tournament and Guangzhou Bullet U13s.
