That's Shanghai takes a look at some of the best upcoming F&B events: 


Jan 30: Papi Chulo Night - Viva Holanda

Tomatito's always fun (and delicious) Papi Chulu night goes to Holland. Time to get kei gezellig (nice and cozy, aww) with all things Dutch inspired! You are in for a great time with your hosts Stijn (Tomatito), Magnus (Tall Brothers) and Elaine (The Good Food People). And of course, there will be sexy dutch inspired-tapas starting from RMB20 such as bitterballen (beef croquetas with mustard), kibbeling (fried codfish), Dutch mussels and more.  Drinks are super sexy too (duh) with Ginraw, the gastronomic gin from Barcelona and Tall Brother tonic, RMB50 per cocktail.

Jan 30: Cook it Chinese

Join chefs Pol Garcia (Spain) and Koen Vessies (Holland) for an unforgettable journey through Chinese gastronomy. The talented chefs will be preparing a six-course dinner of Chinese food at Lychee. The dinner is priced at RMB298, and for RMB140 more you also get two glasses of wine and two special craft cocktails.

Feb 2-3, 9-10: Milkstand by PÂTE

Milkstand by PÂTE will be open every weekend during Chinese New Year at their Taikang Terrace location. Flat whites, cake, sweet & savoury scones with a “Specials” menu that changes every weekend will be on offer. 

During CNY, specials will include edible hongbao, citrus tarts and a Pâte classic, Tart Tatin. For last minute CNY presents, The Short Collection, a Shanghai themed cookie gift box will also be available for purchase!

Feb 4: Free Flow Chinese New Year's Eve Party at The Rooster

Free flow at The Rooster. Oh boy, this promises to be one hell of Chinese New Year bash. Drink all you can for RMB200 (add on RMB300 for draft beers), and make sure to block off your schedule for the hard-earned hangover.

Feb 4-8: Spring Festival Italian Family Set

Head over to Camelia at the Four Seasons Hotel Pudong where every indulgence is executed with aplomb. Star with a lovingly prepared Italian antipasti selection and soup before tucking into grilled lamb rack, spring chicken, king prawns, scallops, and mains of Wagyu beef, seafood carpaccio and handmade pizza.

Feb 4-10: Uncle Logan the Pajama Man

Uncle Logan is keeping his fine establishment up and running this holiday season with drink deals throughout. We're not sure if he'll be in pajamas or not, but either way, we're not complaining.

Feb 4-10: Chinese New Year Holidays at Paulaner

Paulaner has menus available at all locations showcasing their hearty Bavarian cuisine and freshly brewed drafts of Paulaner Beer as well as a comfortable ambiance. Feb 4-10: Chinese New Year at Kartel

The Jing’an/FCC wine bar and eatery Kartel is staying open during Chinese New Year, and they’re offering 20 percent off on wine bottles. So enjoy some red or white with your friends while gazing at that spectacular Shanghai skyline.

Feb 4-11: Stone Brewing Limited Release CNY Beer Calendar

Need a place to hang out during the Chinese New Year? You’re in luck because Stone Brewing is open every day during the holiday, with exciting offerings on the Stone Limited Release Beer Calendar! Now you have an excuse to get off the couch and put on some real clothes (or not, we won’t judge your sweatpants). Join them from Feb 4 through Feb 11 as they release one specialty beer each day from the deepest depths of their beer archive! From sour wild ales to 13 percent imperial stouts to Berliner Weisse with peanut butter and strawberry to barleywine aged in bourbon barrels, all of your beer needs are beyond covered. Plus all tables that spend over RMB100 will receive a hongbao!

Feb 5-6: Chinese New Year Movie & Beer Nights

While everyone else abandons the city to visit family or beaches, Stone Brewing will be open and popping off, with a full bar menu available all day every day. On top of that, they will be showing movies on a state-of-the-art projector with beer promotions to match. Movies start at 7pm, and you can order Homeslice (sans delivery charges) directly to the Tap Room. 

On Tuesday, Feb 5, sip on 50 percent off White Geist Berliner Weisse while reliving your childhood by watching Ghostbusters. 

On Wednesday, Feb 6, it’s all about the 50 percent off Bourbon Barrel-aged Arrogant Bastard Ale paired with the film Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.

Feb 6: Open Bar Open Mic Comedy Show

It's the return of the legendary Open Bar Open Mic show to Masse Bistro & Bar, in association with the Shanghai Comedy Bunker. RMB150 buys you three hours of free flow drinks and free flow stand-up comedy. The deal includes Asahi draught, house spirits with mixers (gin, vodka, rum, whiskey) as well as soft drinks and juices.
