That's Shanghai takes a look at the best nightlife events on this weekend.
Nov 15: Way Out East
Flyer courtesy of Dada.
Live video art meets a whole lot of funk tonight at Dada. With VJ Hoben and five dope DJs from the "Werkout" collective, you can start your weekend (hey, it's almost Friday) off with a solid spread of old school 10s.
Nov 15, 9pm, no cover. Dada, see event listing.
Nov 15: 100% Hip Hop
Flyer courtesy of Le Baron.
The flyer speaks for itself.
Nov 15, 10pm, no cover. Le Baron, see event listing.
Nov 16: Opening Ceremony
Flyer courtesy of Bar Rouge.
Can you believe it?! 14 years of Bar Rouge! 14! That's kind of amazing, but hey, when you've got people like David Cameron backing your Bund-side establishment, it all kind of makes sense. They're having some crazy blow out parties to celebrate the whole shebang, so hit the first of these disco-clad soirées tomorrow night because it's going to be an event.
Nov 16, 10pm, RMB100 pre sale, RMB150 door. Bar Rouge, see event listing.
Nov 16: The Flex
Flyer courtesy of the promoter.
Another set of hip hop DJs, another yellow flyer. Locally based SoCal family are taking control of electric circus for R&B, '90s and a lot of West coast (best coast) vibes.
Nov 16, 10pm, no cover, RSVP for entry. Electric Circus, see event listing.
Nov 16: Josh Pan
Flyer courtesy of Le Baron.
This dude writes Kanye West fan fiction. Not kidding.

Nov 16: Four Tet
Yes, we're still pushing Four Tet because we can't BELIEVE this show hasn't sold out yet and it's going to be just so so fun. It's a late night set with Putney native Kieran Hebden’s post-rock electronic project. He’s worked with the likes of Thom Yorke from Radiohead and remixed everyone from CVRCHES to Bloc Party to Bonobo. With influences ranging from jazz to folk music and hip-hop, he’s made a name for himself on both the dance circuit and the production scene. It's a live show but basically it's gonna be a killer party and if you haven't gotten tickets yet, and you like this sort of thing, you should really get on it now.
Nov 16, 11pm, RMB220 pre sale, RMB300 door. Modern Sky Lab, see event listing, buy tickets.
Nov 16: Blackhall & Bookless
Flyer courtesy of Celia.
London all-stars Blackhall & Bookless are rolling through for an electronic set, true to their roots. Tied to Jaunt Records, what started out as a bunch of guys just playing club nights has turned into a full blown label, a living example of the kind of kids who make it for the love of music.
Nov 16, midnight, RMB100 includes one drink. Celia, see event listing.
Nov 16-17: WR/OC Music Fest
Flyer courtesy of the promoter.
Young label WR/OC is bringing a roster of hip hop from around the world to Shanghai this weekend! The two-day festival spotlights well-known artists like Machine Gun Kelly, famous for his Eminem slighting track 'Rap Devil' and his 2017 album Bloom, border-transcendent Bohan Phoenix and J.I.D. Sharing the stage for two nights packed-out with talent are MC光光, 深蓝儿童 (Indigo Children), NINEONE#, YOUNG13DBABY, Young Poc, T.A.C.E., 沙皇40F, MAFI∀ and MC天天. The mixture of local and international talent makes for one of the most diverse hip hop showcases in the PRC, with one-day, two-day and special VIP packages available.
Nov 16, 6pm-midnight, RMB228-1280. Arkham, see event listing, buy tickets. Nov 17, 6pm-midnight, RMB228-1280. Modern Sky Lab, see event listing, buy tickets.

You can find Chewie, Gvne and Donn paying tribute to Studio 54 with five hours of disco house in The Edition. Whee.
Nov 17, 10pm, no cover, RSVP for entry. Electric Circus, see event listing.
Nov 17: Sleepover Weekend
Flyer courtesy of Roxie.
Pillow fights, pajamas and a free shot? Ok, you've got our attention. Roxie's throwing a sleep over themed weekend with a match making party on Friday and pajamarama on Saturday. Whether you're wearing something slinky and sexy or your favorite animal onesie, whatever you don can work in your favor - the medium is the message, people #MarshallMcLuhan.
Nov 17, 9pm, no cover. Roxie, see event listing.
Nov 17: HITO
Berlin-based Japanese electronic artist HITO is no stranger to the club scene. A regular in Ibiza, her heavy bass, techno infused tracks are mature in sound and German by nature. Expect lots of kids in all black for a serious (literally and figuratively) dance set.
Nov 17, 10pm, RMB99 pre sale, RMB150 door. Arkham, see event listing, buy tickets.
