Specters is up and running for one last night. Fitting it's Halloween, really. They're showing The Rocky Horror Picture Show and serving drinks 'til the wee hours of the mornin'. Or until they sell out. Come on down for one last pint of Murphy's or a couple (dozen) shots of Fireball. Bring your own cups.

Oct 31, 9pm, no cover. Specters, see event listing.

Oct 31: The Dark Side at Shake

Shake back at it again with the clean copy: Calling all the freaks! For one night only, SHAKE presents a concert of songs they love but don't/can't usually play (because they're too sinister), plus a jam after the two sets. Just some classic, dark and danceable funk, soul and more, performed live on Halloween night. Dress up and come get down. Free entry. Dinner from 6pm, live music from 10pm.

Oct 31, 10pm, no cover. Shake, see event listing.

Oct 31: Coven

This cabaret in the McKinnon is hands down one of the wildest ways you can spend Halloween. Don your whitest whites for the wake of Agnes Sampson - the woman (or witch...?) who attempted to assasinate King James. An extension of Sleep No More, there will be free-flow drinks, dance, lots of gorgeous costumed people and DJs. We're already itching with excitement (and a mild case of hives because that ish is creepy af and we're about it). Our ticket give away is over, but you can purchase them online until 5pm on Wednesday, and at the door until sold out.

Oct 31, 10.30pm, RMB350. McKinnon Hotel, see event listing.

Nov 2: Zhaojiabang

Nov 2: Genre Spanner

Genres on genres on genres. Ska, metal and funk can be heard at Harley's this Friday night. Doors are at 6pm so come early if ya want - they say the music's gonna run late.

Nov 2, 9.30pm, no cover. Harley's Undergroud, see event listing.

Glittering synths, triumphant riffs and catchy, sing-along vocals – these are all characteristics of the supreme sounds of ‘80s glam rock and pop. Stockport indie rockers Blossoms are hitting Shanghai this week for a killer show - check our article with them here for more of what's up.

Nov 3, 9pm, RMB220 pre sale, RMB280 door. Bandai Namco Shanghai Base, see event listing, buy tickets.

Nov 3: Nocturnes

Emotional, sultry and atmospheric, Nocturnes are coming straight from Beijing for a heavy and immersive set at Lofas. Their mature vocals and quick, vibrating guitar riffs make for a really distinct sound, and they've just released their new music video (VPN needed).

Nov 3, 9pm, RMB60-80. Lofas, see event listing.
