Okay, hear us out. Yes this is a list of nightlife events, but we went to Oktoberfest and it was a blast. The music was awesome/hilarious, one of the guys in the band looks like Bill Skarsgård, the booze is free-flow and the pretzels are ace. It really is the start for a wild night, so...there. Case made.

Oct 10-20, 5pm, set menus from RMB258; tables are also available, prices vary. Paulaner (Raffles City Changning), see event listing. To make reservations, click here

Oct 11: FWDSLXSH

Le Baron keeps the hip hop coming with FWDSLXSH. He produces (for Grammy winners), remixes (artists like Snakehops and Bryson Tiller) and plays awesome tracks (for you!). Come before midnight if you haven't booked a table, and remember lads, no shorts.

Oct 11, 10pm, no cover. Le Baron, see event listing.

Oct 12-14: Beernanza

Do you like beer? Do you like to drink beer? Do you sometimes drink too much beer and sometimes do other people drink too much beer? Well, the fifth edition of Beernanza returns to Shanghai with three days of booze and music, including more than 150 Chinese and international craft beers. You can also expect a home brewing class, plus dozens of live Shanghai bands, including Skinny OG & Queen Diamond, JenSomeone, Yanran, Sarah Mou and more. Also, fuck off Kavanaugh.

Oct 12, 6-10.30pm, Oct 13-14, 12.45-10.30pm, RMB150. Okura Garden Hotel Shanghai, see event listing

Oct 12: Loev Bagn Sports Lesure Launching Party

Another Love Bang party. Or is it Loev Bagn? Will there be clothes for sale? A new shirt released? We're not totally sure, but we're pumped for another night of good music.

Oct 12, 9pm, RMB60. Elevator, see event listing.

Oct 12: Choice37

SoCal native Choice37 got his chops as a member of the hip-hop trio, Longevity Crew. He then moved on to become a bass producer, taking influence from A Tribe Called Quest, Bjork, Stevie Wonder and Quincy Jones. You read that right.

Oct 11, 10pm, no cover. Le Baron, see event listing.

Oct 12: Fantasna

Chilean producer and DJ, Fantasna, will be taking over the home of Shanghai's disco pizza oven this weekend. Parlour's putting on a free show in honor of Columbus Day - but you know, the right way...? We're excited to have this Boiler Room headliner back in the city.

Oct 12, 9pm, no cover. Parlour, see event listing.

Oct 12: Hispanidad Day Party

Sangria, music and much food will be available for this celebration. Entry tickets include 10 food and drink tickets, so it's a good way to sample some of the Latin world’s best fare.

Oct 12, 6pm, RMB150 early bird, RMB180 door. Azul, see event listing.

Oct 12: Summer of Haze and Saburov

This Russian electronic producer hides his face with a bandana and has had his own Boiler Room set. He's been referred to as "the lord of witch house" and is a big hit up north.

Oct 12, 9pm, RMB60-80. Dada, see event listing.

Oct 13: 12" of Fun

Japanese city pop, acid and breakbeats, the boys are back from their traveling and record scouting adventures. This one's for all the late-nighters out there.

Oct 13, 10pm, no cover. Dada, see event listing.

Oct 13: Das Days House Party

Okay, so that cassette day thing we mentioned before is also a House Party thrown by Das Das (adidias). Yes, there will be live music (Cha Cha, Dirty Fingers, Gaojiafeng, Dahlia Rosea) - but also, party!

Oct 13, 8pm, RMB80-100. Yuyintang, see event listing.
