Shanghai Fight Night took place on December 6, organised by both White Collar Boxing China and Pro Boxing China. The event traditional Brawl on the Bund black tie gala and added some professional fights alongside the plucky amateur bouts.
Five white collar matches will still be held on the night, but immediately following, four professional fights will commence. Meaning our Shanghai fighters can suit up with the rest of us – it’s still a formal black tie bash – to watch the big guns show us how it’s really done.
Pro fighters include one of local Golden Gloves boxing gym’s own trainers Brian Baguiao, along with Andrew Pereira, Au Yang and Sugar Ray Li. All are now training and fighting for China Sports Promotions (CSP), a company started by event organizer Shane Benis to promote boxing. “Most of our guests have never seen a pro fight before and the fighters we’re featuring are some of the best China has to offer,” says Benis. “It will be more exciting than any of our previous events in terms of boxing quality.”
