Lunch just got much more convenient. A robot is now delivering food to workers in a Shanghai office building, according to People’s Daily

The robot can navigate the building’s control systems to enter the lobby and take the elevator all by itself. It moves at a slow and safe speed and avoids obstacles. Waist-high and shaped like a blender, the robot cheerfully announces itself when taking the elevator: “Hello, the robot is entering the lift. Please keep away. Thank you.”

The little machine is a great timesaver. Workers in the building no longer have to drag themselves downstairs to meet deliverymen and deliverymen no longer have to wait for customers to pick up their orders.

Delivery drivers scan a QR code on the robot’s screen, fill out relevant information, such as the floor number, and place the food in the robot's storage compartment. Once the robot arrives at the designated floor, it automatically sends a text message to the customer for pick up.
