That's Shanghai takes a look at the best parties of the week.
Sep 6: DJ Yuskay

Kick your weekend off with a night of hip hop at Le Baron. This DJ from Japan has a background in a host of instruments like piano and guitar, but found himself and his sound when he hit the turntables at age 15. Plus he's worked with Vice and Hennessy.
Sep 6, 10pm, no cover. Le Baron, see event listing.
Sep 7: Italian Dance Wave
Flyer courtesy of the promoter.
Italian Dance Wave Asia takes over Dada, bringing through a roster of DJs from overseas. They've held events in Beijing, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Berlin, Milan and Madrid, speading la vita bella through music and dance for years now.
Sep 7, 10pm, no cover. Dada, see event listing.
Sep 7: Mykki Blanco

Electric Circus at The Shanghai Edition is hosting the first of their "Blacklist" parties with Mykki Blanco, Amber Akilla and DJ Toy. Over the next few months, this bougie new club (in a bougie new hotel) will be bringing through some of the most interesting internation musicians and DJs - they're off to a strong start. Blanco's rap, camp and performance artistry have earned him quite a name for himself (as did his performance at The Shelter before it closed), so this is sure to be a wild night. It's RSVP only, so if you haven't already, follow Electric Circus on Wechat: electriccircus. Stat.
Sep 7, 10pm, RSVP only. Electric Circus, see event listing.
Sep 7-8: Shake 2 Year Anniversary Party
Flyer courtesy of SHAKE.
Now that they've got two-years in the bag, Shake is getting ready to celebrate with six musicians and a whole lot of funk. Eddy Yang of Tailor Group will be guest bartending on Saturday, and dinner starts from 6pm, with live music in swing as of 10pm. If you're set on hitting up this party, you might want to book in advance.
Sep 7-8, 6pm, RMB100. Shake, see event listing.
Sep 8: Kohala Beach Party
Flyer courtesy of the promoter.
September is here, so round your summer out with a bang by heading to Hangzhou for this free, beach-side rave. It's by a waterfall. And they'll have food. And drinks. Busses leave from the center of the city and you can purchase direct tickets for cheap, so if you're looking to score a little more sand before the season ends, here's a great alternative to booking a plane ticket. The lineup is pretty promising.
Sep 8, 2-10pm, RMB68-98 for bus tickets. Baoshou Mountain Scenic Area, see event listing.
Sep 8: Solar Picnic
Flyer courtesy of the promoter.
Food, booze and arguably the most beautiful resort in Shanghai come together for one hell of a picnic. This green, minimal space outside the city center is a breath of fresh air and a welcome break from our concrete smorgasbord. Coupled with craft cocktails, aperitivo and a solid house/disco DJ, this is the perfect excuse to go to Minhang (that's right, we just said that). They're offering shuttle service from Jing'an to make your life easier.
Sep 8, 5-11pm, RMB288 includes two drinks and aperitivo. Amanyangyun, see event listing.
Sep 8: Mod Night
Flyer courtesy of Specters.
Shanghai's favorite dive-bar-trap-of-an-establishment is bringing all of the soul with a set from Baron Van West and DJ Ready Freddy this Saturday. Go drink. Go dance. Go Specters.
Sep 8, 9pm, no cover everrrrrrr. Specters, see event listing.
Sep 8: The Fluo House
Bright colors. Blacklights. Bar Rouge. Free entry before midnight if you RSVP, so break out your fluorescents and head early to avoid that cover charge.
Sep 8, 10pm, RMB100 door after midnight. Bar Rouge, see event listing.
Sep 8: Steve Aoki
Legendary electronic producer and DJ Steve Aoki will be playing a set at Linx this month. Expect to hear his remixes of songs by famous artists like Fall Out Boy, and revere his Jesus-like hair as he spins the discs.
Sep 8, 10.30pm, RMB380 early bird, RMB480 presale, RMB580 door. Linx, see event listing, buy tickets.
Sep 9: Secret Rooftop
Flyer courtesy of the promoter.
Ooh. A secret rooftop party. Well, sort of secret. They'll have drinks, snacks, games and 10 hours of house/techno/disco to keep you feeling good. Weather permitting, it'll all come with an awesome sunset too.
Sep 9, noon-10pm, RMB80. Youin House, see event listing.
