Plans to open Shake Shack's first Mainland restaurant in Shanghai appear to be right on schedule for the promised 2019 opening date. We have been looking forward to the Shanghai launch of Danny Meyer's (behind NYC's Eleven Madison Park, Gramercy Tavern and Union Square Cafe) fast-casual chain since a press release hit the Shake Shack website last year.

Now, just three months after opening in Hong Kong's IFC mall, Shake Shack signage has been spotted outside Pizza Marzano's old Xintiandi digs along with a statement from the former tenants:
Soon we will say goodbye to XinTianDi. But Marzano and our Italian flavor will continue being with you. We invite you to visit us at below locations or channel.
While some might be sad to see Pizza Marzano go, the prospect of crinkle fries, concretes and 100 percent all-natural Angus beef burgers will help dull the pain.

Inquiring minds want to know if we are getting a milk tea shake currently exclusive to the Hong Kong store and if the company's new plastic straws ban will apply to Greater China restaurants. Stay tuned to find out.
