Aug 17: Duck Fight Goose with Foster Parents

Next up in D Force Record's summer season is local indie band Duck Fight Goose. They're playing alongside math-rock duo Foster Parents, updating some old tracks with new tricks (think visuals) and experimental electronic sounds.

Aug 17: Say Yes: Parrish Smith
Flyer courtesy of promoter.
Electronica, industrial, body music - Dutch DJ and producer Parrish Smith floats somewhere between the three, with an elusive sound. He brings a unique energy to the music landscape, and with hints of post-punk marked by thrashing guitars, chances are you haven't seen an act like his before.
Aug 17, 10pm, RMB80. ALL Club, see event listing.
Aug 17: Flower Power at Bar Rouge
Flyer courtesy of promoter.
Break out your bellbottoms and hit the Bund for the summer of love, or at least a throwback to it. Floral attire and headbands encouraged, sunglasses not necessary.
Aug 17, 10pm, entrance free until midnight with RSVP, RMB100 at the door. Bar Rouge, see event listing.
Aug 18: Dada's 9th Anniversary
Flyer courtesy of promoter.
Nine years of Dada in Shanghai! Now that's something to celebrate. They've got a long lineup of DJs to carry you through the night, including Pussy Stack, Gouachi, Heatwolves and more. Starts early, goes late.
Aug 18, 9pm, no cover. Dada, see event listing.
Aug 18: Medusa's 2nd Analversary
Flyer courtesy of promoter.
One of Shanghai's favorite LGBTQ parties is celebrating its two-year anniversary. Show up in drag and your entry is free, but when it comes to glitter, Elevator's already got you covered. Doors close at 3am, so don't wait too late to get yourself over there.
Aug 18, 10pm, RMB50 door. Elevator, see event listing.
Aug 18: Shanghai Dancehall
Flyer courtesy of promoter.
It's SOCA music mon, reggae and all the dancehall your little heart desires. Probably the only place in Shanghai you'll find it too, so whine your way over and burn some calories.
Aug 18, 10pm. C's, see event listing.
Aug 18: Neon Party
Flyer courtesy of promoter.
Break out your neon threads. All of them. The Mansion's throwing a party and they want you to step up your game. This is the perfect excuse to break out your festival gear, underappreciated Taobao purchases and glowsticks. As always, with entry comes five free drinks before 1am or three afterwards.
Aug 18, 10pm, RMB100. The Mansion, see event listing.
Aug 18-19: MVP Rooftop Pool Party
MVP continues their weekend pool parties at Pudong Shangri-la, but with only a few weekends left this is one of your last chances to catch it. Head there for a dip in their terrace pool, cocktails, music and fun in the sun. Arrive before 1pm with the password 'MVP' to get in for RMB100 with a free welcome drink. Otherwise, the cover is RMB150.
Aug 18-19, noon-6pm. Pudong Shangri-la, see event listing.
