Salut! Saturday July 14 is none other than Bastille Day (aka French National Day). As the French commemorate the storming of the gates of the Bastille fortress in 1789 – a key moment in the French Revolution – a few establishments around Shanghai will also join in on the festivities. Here are some places you can go this year to celebrate the Fête de la Fédération.

Culture Shock Tour

No need to travel very far to experience French culture during this Bastille Day. Culture Shock Tour is offering their classic bike tour experience for a ride around the former French Concession. It's the perfect way to seek out all of the area's hidden gems (and sweet treats!).

July 14, RMB360, Culture Shock Tour, see event listing.

Mr. & Mrs. Bund

On Saturday, Mr. & Mrs. Bund is offering a special brunch and dinner in honor of Bastille Day. Brunch will consist of all sorts of delicious treats: omelets, croissants, croque madame and French press coffee. And if you want to get a little boozy, the Bloody Mary's will be flowing. If you're looking for a special place to dine, there is no better way to continue the celebration into the night than with Shanghai’s favorite couple, Mr. & Mrs. Bund. There will be plenty of drink specials and DJ Keint and DJ John Avolio will be there all night long to provide the tunes. Don’t forget to show up in France’s national colors: red, white and blue.

Brunch: July 14-15, 11.30am-2.30pm, see event listing. Dinner: July 14, 5.30pm-11.30pm, RMB488, see event listing. Mr. & Mrs. Bund.

Les Folies De Pigalle at M1NT

M1NT invites you to participate in an eloquent Bastille Day celebration. It will be a night filled with the magic of the Parisian lifestyle. This one's gonna be extravagant so make sure to wear your fanciest dress.

July 14, 10pm, free entry until 12.30am; M1NT, see event listing.

The Glamour Bar

Want to find a place to celebrate both French Independence and pride? The Glamour Bar has got you covered with their Bastille Day Gay Brunch. Tasty eats include eggs benedict, blueberry pancakes and salmon gravlax. And of course, there will be topless bartenders, an extended Very Glam Very Happy Hour from 4-7pm and a drag show.

July 14, 1-7pm, RMB308. The Glamour Bar, see event listing.

Le Bouchon

Celebrate French National Day with all things French food and wine at Le Bouchon. There will be plenty of drink specials and a special six-course sharing menu for dinner and lucky draws every hour.

Happy hour: 6.30-9pm, free entry. Dinner: 6.30-10.30pm, RMB350 per person. Le Bouchon, see event listing

If you want to get into the French spirit of things head on over to SIGNOR Gelato to taste their special Camembert-flavored ice cream. That's right cheese lovers... Camembert! The flavor will be available until July 22, so get it while you can.

See a listing for SIGNOR Gelato.

World Cup Final: France vs Croatia

And if these aren't enough events to satisfy your French fever, then you can continue the weekend celebration at one of the World Cup Final events where France will take on Croatia. Here's our guide on where to watch the big match
