Dropping in to Dada Beijing and Shanghai this weekend is Ernesto Chahoud, a record collector from Beirut who deals in rare funk and soul albums with a special focus on Ethiopian funk and jazz from the 60s-70s.

He's passing through town on Friday in Beijing and Saturday in Shanghai for the release party of his record, TAITU - Soul-fuelled Stompers from 1960s - 1970s Ethiopia. The album features his most essential finds from a decade-long fascination with dance music from 1970s Addis Ababa.

Check out the album here:

Performing with Chahoud at both Dada shows is JJ Whitefield of Poets of Rhythm, who'll play a set spanning Afro-beat, Middle Eastern psych and garage rock.

Details:
Beijing: Apr 13, 10pm, Dada, see event listing.
Shanghai: Apr 14, 10pm, RMB60. Dada, see event listing
